Prospective Students

The MRSEC has open research positions for graduate and undergraduate students.  Students interested in attending graduate school at Georgia Tech should visit the Graduate Admissions website. Graduate Research Assistantships and Graduate Fellowships are available at the MRSEC for students admitted to the program.

Graduate Fellowships

The MRSEC provides fellowships for new PhD students at the Georgia Institute of Technology. These Fellowships supplement Georgia Tech Graduate Teaching Assistantship or Graduate Research Assistantship with an award of $7,500 per year for four years. These Fellowships will be awarded on a competitive basis to highly motivated students who pursue a PhD in Physics with a professor affiliated with the MRSEC.

Fellowships are available to incoming graduate students who are US citizens or permanent residents. The goal of this program is to increase the number of female and minority students pursuing graduate studies at the Center. Although not a rigid criterion, the best candidates will have at least a 3.5 GPA in math and major courses, a GRE Physics Subject test score of 700 or above, and a strong interest in condensed matter physics or microelectronics. Interested applicants should apply online to the PhD physics program at Georgia Tech at www.physics.gatech.edu (there is no application fee) and send an e-mail message to Prof. Andy Zangwill (andrew.zangwill@physics.gatech.edu) indicating their undergraduate institution and their interest in being considered for a MRSEC Fellowship.

Research Experience for Undergraduates

The MRSEC involves undergraduate students in research projects during any semester either for course credit or pay.  Interested students should contact any of the MRSEC faculty or Dr. Leyla Conrad (leyla.conrad@ece.gatech.edu).
